Today I was learning a new song in sign language.  "Your Name" is a beautifully written and composed song we often sing in church; however, in church it just seems to be, well... another song.

Learning a song in ASL means I have to pay attention to every word.  Every.  Single.  Word.  If I fail to do this, my hands can't form the next word correctly and it becomes a jumbled mess.

So today, even after going through the song umpteen times to get it just right, I was listening to the recording with tears streaming down my face.  In Your Name.  Your strength.  Your mighty power.  Your shelter.  Not any of it on my own.

I have a long way to go to know more songs in ASL, but perhaps learning the songs that way will make me more mindful of the meaning behind them.
